Compassion International Tanzania (CIT) is part of Compassion International, Inc.-the worldwide Christian nongovernmental organization dedicated to child development and advocacy. CIT begun its operation in 1999. Twenty (20) years after the start, we have grown into one of the largest Christ-centered, church-based, and child-focused advocacy and development organizations in Tanzania.
We are a child-advocacy ministry pairing compassionate people with children living in extreme poverty to release the children from spiritual, economic, social, and physical poverty.
CIT is currently implementing "Our Neighbour Promise" a five-year strategy (2022 -2027). The strategy seeks to contribute to the improvement of the lives of 1.7 million children and youth in Tanzania.
Compassion International Tanzania employs Compassion’s Holistic Child and Youth Development Model. The model follows the life cycle of a child. We do this with our partners in an understanding that no developmental stage is more important than another, and all areas of holistic development are needed for the children we serve to move toward being released from poverty. We have one program, with one set of beneficiary outcomes and indicators. We deliver our programs through Church Facing Team approach which aims at equipping church partners to develop, implement effective holistic child and youth development programs sustainably.
